ECB prepares technical standards for digital euro integration by summer 2026

TheEuropean Central Bank (ECB) has confirmed plans to implement technical standards for the integration of the digital euro, expected by summer 2026. The move aims to create a reliable and interoperable infrastructure for the future central bank digital currency (CBDC), ensuring a high degree of security and efficiency for payments across the eurozone.According to the ECB, the new standards will cover key aspects:
- interoperability between banks and payment services;
- ensuring the confidentiality of user data;
- resilience to cyber threats;
- scalability to support growing digital traffic.
